THE COTTAGE

If you've always wanted to visit the Western Isles to experience its breathtaking beauty then its time to book a holiday you won't forget.  Experience the traditional crofting ways of the Gaelic-speaking locals and explore the wonderful scenery on offer.  Take your time wandering deserted white sandy beaches bordered by the riotous flowering machair where the crofters still grow their crops and farm their blackface sheep.  The wool from these sheep is made into the famous Harris Tweed that is still woven by many crofters today.

  • Stunning loch views from most rooms

  • Beautiful sheltered setting

  • Easy access to the main town of Stornoway as well as the beaches of Lewis & Harris including Luskentyre, Tolsta, Ness, Europie, Hushinish, Uig

  • DVD, WiFi & more

  • Traditional croft cottage with exposed stone walls in the traditional crofting village of Keose

THE BEACHES & OTHER ACTIVITIES

The Western Isles are well known for their white sandy beaches and turquoise blue waters. Even the most beautiful beaches are usually deserted so take your time exploring and have a go at dipping your toes in the bracing waters of the North Atlantic.

There are many other activities and places to visit on Lewis and Harris including the main town of Stornoway: famous for its black puddings and the recently refurbished Lews Castle & Museum showcasing the Lewis Chessmen collection.

You can also play golf, go biking, try fly-fishing or learn to surf as well as discover a wide range of other activities to see and do.

DISCOVER ISLAND LIFE

If you would like to meet the locals, learn some Gaelic and see some Harris Tweed on the loom you might want to book a tour with your host who has extensive guiding experience both locally and overseas.  Contact Jo to book her as your guide to the Western Isles way of life.  It really is a different (and stress-free) way of living!
